MY VISIT TO SHALOM ORPHANAGE - CENTRE SEPTEMBER 2015

I went to Tanzania in September 2015 for holiday and I was privileged to visit Shalom Orphanage Centre with my fiancĂ© Rev. Emmanuel Nnko.(Now my husband). I met the director of the orphenage centre, Mama Warra Nnko
(a widow). Her husband died in 2010. I enjoyed the trip from Arusha city to Karatu and the most enjoyable time was when I was introduced to these beautiful happy children at the Centre. It was an amazing time that I will never forget, Praise God!.
The brief history of the centre was read to us. And by the end of the day I gave Mama Warra a new name, “Mama Watoto” (The mother of many children).
Please read and see what you can do to help these children to fulfil their goals. They need our help for sure.
May God bless you.

ABOUT SHALOM ORPHANAGE CENTRE

Shalom orphanage Centre is a registered NGO in the United Republic of Tanzania under the Non-Government Organization Act of the year 2002.
Shalom Orphanage Centre was founded in 2004, our sole mission is to improve the lives of poor and disadvantaged children in Karatu and neighbouring communities of Arusha, Manyara and Kilimanjaro regions, ensuring they shown mercy regardless of region, tribe or ethnicity.
Shalom is located 160km from Arusha city, Tanzania, in Karatu District Town, between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Conservation area.
To date, we have sixty eight children living at Shalom, between the age of 0-18 and twenty two supporting staff.

PARTNER WITH US

There has been an increasing in the number of orphans due to low-level of economic strategies, the rapid growth of HIV/AIDS, alcoholism and the decline of the family structure. Furthermore, due to a lack of employment opportunities and access to education most live under the national poverty line.
Every child has a dream and it is our hope to give them opportunity to use their skills and gifts to reach their full potential and to see their dreams become reality. We ensure each child receives food, shelter, education, medical care and love. Specifically, through education we can combat disease and poverty and enable our children to grow up in a world free from the threats of HIV/AIDS and starvation.
We operate under the strong leadership of a founding director. In addition, we have a team of skilled child care workers, teachers, cooks, cleaners and gardeners. It is also our goal to add a trained medical professional to our team.
We recruit highly qualified and motivated care givers and teachers to care for our children.
We operate a nursery School for the orphans and other children in the community.

STEPS TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY
We grow our own produce and have livestock which includes poultry, sheep, cattle and pigs.
